Ok, so, I've shopped Amazon and Hanes.com (they have every size except medium.) I've visited Target, JC Penney, Macy's, Sears, and Marshall's to no avail. I probably would have given up by now normally, but it's starting to feel like some sort of gauntlet at this point.

Does anyone know of a specific place in the city where I can purchase these stupid t-shirts? It's the only thing that my boyfriend wants for Christmas and I'm now feeling like a shopping failure for not being able to pull off this simple task.

I'm going to try K Mart today, but I don't have high hopes.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a relaxing/romantic spot in the Catskills that would be good for a weekend trip in January or February?

Are there any particularly cute towns with nice skiing or other fun things to do in the winter nearby? I would really love to get a log cabin (the old-fashioned kind, with a fireplace and everything) but all the "cabins" I'm finding are more like cottages you'd stay in during the summer to go fishing. I guess a rustic-styled bed & breakfast would be good, too. Not really looking for nightlife or fancy meals, just a cute town (antiques?) and wintery outdoorsy stuff.

I don't really know much about the Catskills so I was hoping some of you would have some suggestions. Or...if you know of a similar place that's not more than a 3 hour drive away, that would be fine, too! Thanks :)

I'm thinking of getting Zipcar - I live in LIC/Astoria. Does anyone have any personal experiences, especially in that area?

I'm mostly considering doing it to get rid of the expense of my car. I'd probably use it some weekends, for random trips to Target, as well as for trips out of state for a couple of days (if that's possible.)

So I was using the death ray in my lab.. and came up with this...

I had some people who were at the Crashlanding ask if I would sell them and the answer is yes. They are $10 (plus actual cost of shipping) each and I have about 20, I will make them only till Friday Afternoon. There are 2 types. "Open Gear Work" and "Filled Snowflake Filigree", The colors are, Hammered Brass, Hammered Steel, and Hammered Copper. they are 3" in diameter and made from laser cut Acrylic then painted. Feeel free to Email me with questions or to acquire some..:)

Happy Holidays and 2010... "The Year of the Gear".

I've been with Commerce Bank pretty much since the day they opened (so that was awhile ago). Since they've become TD Bank, I'm really unhappy with their service and I would like to find another bank. The only good thing about TD Bank is that they have late Saturday hours and are open on Sundays.

Are there ANY banks that have decent service and good hours in NYC. A plus if they have branches in NJ (I live in NJ, but I'm in NYC for school and adventures).

Thanks for your help.

Hey New York,

I've been looking like a crazy woman for a chain-link purse that looks like the classic Chanel version:

I've gone up 5th, down Madison, Saks, Macy's, and Lord Knows I've been to Lord and Taylors. But I still haven't found this kind of bag! Yet, it seems like a good deal of New York women are wearing them.

I usually don't ask fashionista questions in this community, but I have one week left in New York and would love to know where I might get a bag like this.

Merci!

Hi all,
I am looking for a particular item. Mittens, for an adult (although she is teeny and has rather small hands)... that look like animal puppets. Basically they look like toys but function as mittens, if that makes sense. Seen these around the city? I'm thinking the Christmas fair in Union might have something like that, but any particular locations/stalls/etc would be helpful.
Thank you!

I am posting this for a friend, who lost his wedding ring at the GWAR show at Irving Plaza on Sunday December 13th.
If anyone in this community was at the show and happened to pick up a ring, well, it would be awesome if you returned it!

more information in his craigslist lost-and-found posting

a long shot, of course, but you never know...
Thanks!

I posted this last week. The outpouring of condolences and sympathy from total strangers was deeply touching and comforting to me in what was (and still is) obviously a difficult time. I just wanted to thank all who commented and the community in general; LJ communities can be very contentious places at times but this experience improved my opinion of the site as a whole.

I ended up taking a cab to the airport and NJ Transit home. Now that I know how easy it is to get to Newark via NJ Transit, I will try to fly from there more often. Also, the service was beautiful and it was very good for me to reconnect with my family.

Thank you.

Well, Steamers, what's one area of our lives that regularly gets neglected when we're steamifying everything? The walls of our own homes. Hence, I'd like to sumbit for your viewing pleasure some of the digital artwork that I do, which DeviantArt is currently running a mad bunch of holiday sales on. They're my own blend of steampunk, which tends to mix in a dose of occultism and other elments, but they certainly fit the genre. Prints like these, which can also get ordered up as magnets or mugs, or what-have you:

Or, better yet, the official calendar design for next year. Good for gifts, or for yourself:

Is there anywhere I can go to get a new prescription for birth control today or tomorrow? I screwed up and didn't notice my prescription had expired, and now my old doctor doesn't take my new insurance so I can't see her. I have an appointment with a new one in two weeks, but I need a new script *now*. Any suggestions for the quickest way to get a new prescription with the least amount of hassle? I've heard Planned Parenthood around here is a pain.
I've tried calling my old doctor, no dice.

Ok, another weird question. Anyone know where I can get a rubber duck? Can be a little teeny one or the more traditional size.

i'm looking to buy a pair or two of fun colored/patterned women's socks for a friend as a gift.

little miss matched is along the lines of what i'm looking for. i'm planning on calling the store listed at 84th and Amsterdam tomorrow to see if they carry women's sizes, but i was hoping someone might know of a similar product that i can get on the UWS (say, Columbia down to Col. Circle?)

i would buy them online but rush shipping is more expensive than the socks and we're both leaving soon for the holidays.

thanks!

As part of a secret Santa gift I want to get a mug with the person's name on it.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I could get such a thing? The name is pretty common.
Doesn't have to be super nice, cheesy is fine.
